Offers
a full range of services to individuals who are affected by MS.
The agency provides
numerous free educational programs on a variety of topics in many
different communities. These services are free, open to the public
and feature a guest speaker who is an authority in their field.
Programs are geared for individuals and their families and deal
with issues important to persons living with MS.
Professional
education programs are held for community agencies, medical professionals,
social workers, nursing personnel and the like who are interested
in learning more about MS and related issues.
The organization
publishes a newsletter – The MS Chronicle-6
times a year with the latest updates on MS, from the medical community
and articles that make day to day living with MS more comfortable.
The Agency Provides
the following Services, however, we also take each
individual case into account when a request is made for assistance.
Transportation-Transportation
is provided to clients within our service area for Medical appointments
related to their MS treatment, at no charge. 24-hour notice is needed
to reserve transportation. Cab service is provided unless wheelchair
transport is necessary.
Loan
of Equipment-Durable medical equipment may be loaned short-term
from our loan closet at no charge to clients if available. Equipment
may also be donated to the loan closet. 48-hour notice is required
for the loan of equipment.We accept donations of medical equipment
that is in working order and has been cleaned.
Support
Groups- Support Group meetings are held in Syracuse, Fayetteville,
Chittenango, Oswego and Utica.
Meetings are
held monthly and are open to all clients, their families, friends
and are free. The meetings are designed to be an interaction between
clients and at times Guest Speakers.

Educational
Programs-The agency offers a variety of Educational Programs
with leading professionals on topics related to MS symptom management,
MS updates, and the latest in treatment options. Programs are held
in the Spring and Fall in several counties throughout the service
area.
Family/Social
Activities-The agency offers a variety of family activities
such as the Client Indoor Picnic, Support Group Holiday Parties
and much more. We also hold men’s and women’s weekend
get aways.
Referrals-MS
Resources Staff will do their best to research all inquiries that
cannot be answered directly. We will consult with other local agencies
to assist with a situation if necessary.
Scholarship
Grants For IHP-All persons who may be interested in either
the aqua therapy or land exercise programs at the Institute for
Human Performance in Syracuse, NY may request a financial application
for approval into the program. An initial assessment must be done
at the IHP prior to acceptance.
The
Lending Library-Books, videotapes and audiocassettes
are available for loan from our library. Click on the Lending Library
